Retraction Policy

Corrections, Retractions, and Post-Publication Policy

At COGNIX PRESS Journals (CPJ), the published article is considered the final Version of Record (VOR) and will remain unchanged whenever possible. However, if post-publication issues arise that require amendments, such cases will be carefully evaluated on an individual basis by the Journal Editors in consultation with the CPJ editorial office, in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Where necessary, appropriate action will be taken in the form of a Correction, Retraction, Notice of Concern, Removal, or Withdrawal. Any such action will be accompanied by a clear post-publication statement that is permanently linked to the original article to ensure transparency and preservation of the scholarly record.

If authors identify an error in a published article and all co-authors agree to the correction, the corresponding author must submit a detailed correction request via the official support email provided on the Journal’s website.

Correction

A Correction will be issued when an error affects the interpretation of the article but does not compromise the overall integrity, validity, or reliability of the work.

The Correction notice will clearly describe the error and the amendments made. The notice will be permanently linked to the original article, and the article will be updated accordingly. A footnote referencing the Correction will also be added to the article to ensure transparency.

Retractions

A Retraction will be issued in accordance with COPE guidelines when:

  • A major error invalidates the findings or conclusions of the article.
  • Research misconduct is identified (including fabricated or falsified data).
  • Plagiarism or unethical publication practices are detected.
  • Image manipulation or serious ethical violations are confirmed.

Retractions will only be issued following a thorough editorial investigation and review by the appropriate Editor(s).

The retraction notice will be published in an online issue of the Journal and permanently linked to the retracted article. The article PDF and HTML versions will be clearly marked with a “Retracted” watermark.

Retracted articles will generally remain accessible to preserve the scholarly record; however, they should not be cited as valid scientific evidence in future research.

Notice of Concern

A Notice of Concern may be issued when serious concerns arise regarding a published article but the investigation is ongoing or inconclusive. This notice alerts readers that the article may later be corrected or retracted.

The Notice of Concern will be permanently linked to the original article and will remain part of the scholarly record.

Article Withdrawal

Article Withdrawal is reserved for rare and serious circumstances that cannot be resolved through correction or retraction. Examples include:

  • Defamatory content
  • Legal violations
  • Infringement of privacy rights
  • Serious ethical breaches requiring removal

In such cases, the article will be removed and replaced with a Withdrawal Notice explaining the reason for the action.

Additional Information Statement

An Additional Information Statement may be published to provide supplementary details related to a published article that do not contradict its findings. Such statements are typically submitted at the authors’ request and are subject to editorial review.

If approved, the statement will be electronically linked to the original article and will form part of the permanent scholarly record.
