EDUCATION AS A CATALYST FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AWARENESS AMONG BACKWARD-CLASS WOMEN: POST HOC ANALYSIS

Abstract

In the technological era, awareness of sustainable development is an essential attribute for individuals. The present inspection aims to examine the role of education on awareness towards sustainable development (ATSD) (social, economic and environmental) among backward class women using a post hoc test. A total of 101 backward class women were chosen using stratified random sampling. This study employed statistical techniques, including Mean, Standard Deviation (SD), and ANOVA. The results indicate that more educated women demonstrate greater awareness of sustainable development compared to the Primary to Upper Primary and Secondary to Higher Secondary groups. This study recommends that more importance should be placed on basic or school-level education, sustainable related topics should be incorporated in basic school-level curriculum, and educational programmes at the school level on these issues.
